"To the artist, the forest is an asylum of peace and dancing shadows". -  John Carlson

Dorothy Hoeschen grew up in Georgia and received her Bachelor of Visual Arts from Georgia State University. She had always been drawn to any kind of art or craft, and especially loved drawing and painting.

Landscape has always been a favorite subject, and it was while playing in the woods as a child that she grew to love the organic shapes, patterns, and colors that still figure prominently in her work.

She graduated from Georgia State University with a Bachelor of Visual Arts and has exibited extensively, receiving numerous awards. Her works have found their way into many corporate collections, as well as private collectors. Working in a variety of media, Dottie's work combines strong compositional elements and a concern for light and color with careful attention to abstract patterns found in recognizable objects.

When she moved to Pennsylvania in 1994 she spent a number of years exploring and teaching bead weaving, macrame, and polymer clay. But there weren't enough hours in the day, and now she devotes full time to her painting.

Though she started as a studio painter, Dottie found that when she began to work en plein air it opened up a whole new world of possibilities. She now splits her time between plein air and studio work, exploring the beauty of Bucks County and any other place where her paints and brushes may take her.

You can purchase her works at Patricia Hutton Galleries in Doylestown, PA.   www.patriciahuttongalleries.com
